Pennsylvania to Get Three New State Parks; Is One Coming to Our Backyard?
Gov. Tom Wolf announced on social media earlier this week that Pennsylvania will be getting three new state parks, but did not disclose their locations or possible names, writes Frank Kummer for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
“Big news: Pennsylvania is getting three new state parks,” wrote the governor on Twitter.
The news amplified the line contained in an education funding press release that said the budget contained “$696 million for conservation, recreation, and preservation, including funding to support the creation of three new state parks and a new ATV park.”
Cindy Adams Dunn, secretary of the state’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, hinted that one of the new parks could be in the Philadelphia region.
“Among the things we plan are three new state parks,” said Dunn. “They haven’t announced yet but… I can say that one will be of interest to you for sure. Stay tuned.”
Dunn added that one of the projects that may also benefit from the infusion of money is work on a swimming pool at French Creek State Park in Chester County.
