After years of inactivity, the London Britain Township Historical Commission has relaunched and is currently working to protect and preserve the John Evans House, as well as the other historic treasures in White Clay Creek Preserve, writes Steven Hoffman for the Chester County Press

The John Evans House is more than three centuries old, which makes it one of the oldest homes in Chester County.

However, after it was abandoned by its last inhabitant and later caught fire, it turned into a shell of its former self. The house was previously scheduled for demolition, and the preservation process has been complex and slow.

In addition to the house, the commission is also working to preserve several other historic structures.

For example, the Welsh Baptist Meeting House is currently getting a new ceiling. The structure also needs its shutters repaired and windows replaced. Windows on the Sexton House have already been replaced, while its chimney and roof are waiting to be repaired.
