Two Chester County hospitals have been included among the seventeen best hospitals in the Philadelphia region by U.S. News & World Report, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The hospitals were ranked based on measures such as survival rates, complication rates, patient experience, and level of nursing care, among others.

“For patients considering their options for where to get care, the Best Hospitals rankings are designed to help them and their medical professionals identify hospitals that excel in the kind of care they may need,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News

Paoli Hospital came fifth in the region and eleventh for Pennsylvania. The hospital was among the highest performing for three adult specialties and 12 procedures and conditions.

Meanwhile, Chester County Hospital tied for No. 10 with Jefferson Health-Abington Hospital. It also placed at No. 17 in Pennsylvania. The hospital recorded high performance in one specialty and six procedures and conditions.

The highest-ranked hospital in the region is the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian, which also came in first place for Pennsylvania and No. 13 nationwide.
