YMCA of Greater Brandywine Partners with Great Valley School District for Enrichment Before and After School
After an extensive review process, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine has been selected as the Before and After School Enrichment provider for the Great Valley School District, beginning with the 2022-2023 school year.
YGBW will be providing care for elementary-aged children across the district’s four elementary schools: Charlestown, General Wayne, K.D. Markley, and Sugartown. Care options will begin at 7 AM and resume when children finish their school day through 6 PM.
This is not the first time that GVSD and YGBW have partnered to provide services for students. Previously, the organizations have worked together to offer STEM and nature programming for third- and fourth-graders and provide spaces for student activities such as the Patriots Swim Team.
Many GVSD students also received virtual learning support at Learning Centers or participated in programs or summer camps at the 54-acre Upper Main Line YMCA.
“We’re looking forward to continuing our relationship with the Great Valley School District and providing high-quality enrichment programs to the students,” said the YMCA’s Claudia Aust. “Our Before and After School Enrichment gives families a convenient care option for their child and complements the curriculum offered by GVSD to help students succeed.”
YGBW Before and After School Enrichment programming provides homework help, enrichment activities, and structured physical activities and outdoor play — all provided by trained teachers and childcare professionals.
Also, clubs and extracurricular activities will be offered onsite for all elementary students in the district. GVSD joins six other school districts in Chester County that utilize YGBW for these enrichment programs.
