Canyon Atlantic Partners has decided to end litigation in Common Pleas Court with Tower Health to force the financially struggling health system to sell Jennersville and Brandywine hospitals, so it could reopen them, writes Michael P. Rellahan for the Daily Local News

This means that Chester County will remain without these two medical facilities that served thousands of its residents and employed hundreds of people for the near future.

Texas-based Canyon Atlantic submitted a one-page filing on Tuesday, signaling that it was no longer interested in pursuing the acquisition and reopening the two hospitals.

According to Attorney Guy Donatelli of West Chester-based Lamb McErlane, time had run out on the hospital turnaround company’s attempt to resuscitate the medical centers.

“At this point, the passage of time makes continuation of this lawsuit untenable,” he said.

The action disappointed many who have been working hard to get the two hospitals back on their feet and running.

“But, we are hopeful that other opportunities will arise and enable us to reopen these hospitals,” said David McKeighan, the executive director of the Chester County Medical Society.
