Delco residents Sandra Weiss, Annette Hargadon, Michael Kaczenski, Helen Kain, and Nancy Costello received alumni awards from Neumann University on March 8.

Neumann University’s annual Alumni Association Awards, presented March 8, recognized five residents of Delaware County.

Nancy Gorevin Costello, a Radnor resident, received the Alumni Association Recognition Award. She currently serves as the director of communications for the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In 2010, she and her husband Tom co-founded The Joy of Sox, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides socks for the homeless.

Wallingford’s Annette Hargadon was selected for the John Neumann Award for her professional development and community service. She works as a nurse practitioner at Lankenau Medical Center, caring for patients with benign and malignant diseases of the breast. She has served as president of Neumann’s Alumni Executive Board and Nursing Alumni Chapter.

Michael Kaczenski of Garnet Valley received the President’s Distinguished Alumni Award. Kaczenski started working at Sun East while still a student and worked his way up the ranks from intern to teller to marketing manager to vice president.  In 2001 he was appointed CEO at the age of 34, and he holds the position to this day.

The Spirit of Francis and Clare of Assisi Award was presented to Glen Riddle resident Helen Kain, a certified registered nurse practitioner at ACTS Lima Estates, providing primary care services for assisted living clients and long-term care for geriatric populations. Kain also organizes an annual Alzheimer’s Walk.

Chadds Ford’s Sandra M. Weiss received Neumann’s Honorary Alumni Award in recognition of her 45-year teaching career at the university. For 36 of those years, she was director of the clinical laboratory science program, which often prepared students so well that they received job offers before graduation. At Neumann, she taught biology, immunology, human anatomy and physiology, and hematology.
