Paoli resident Guy Ciarrocchi, the former CEO of the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry, has decided to withdraw his bid to become the Republican nominee for Governor of Pennsylvania and is instead running for Congress, writes Fran Maye for the Daily Local News.

Ciarrocchi is taking aim at the seat in the Sixth Congressional District that is currently held by second-term Democrat Chrissy Houlahan.

He left a crowded Republican primary of more than a dozen hopefuls who are competing to take on presumed Democratic Party nominee Josh Shapiro, two-term state Attorney General, in November’s general election.

“When I first decided to run (for governor), my concern was that the candidates weren’t talking about small business, weren’t talking about the kids, weren’t talking about mandate relief, and now most of them are,” said Ciarrocchi.

Now, he wants to bring these same issues to the forefront of another race.

“The issues that I care deeply about are now at center stage at the governor’s race, but not at center stage in this race for Congress,” he said.
