Neumann University has named Dr. Theresa Pietsch as the new dean of its School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Pietsch succeeds Dr. Kathleen Hoover, who served as the school’s dean for the last 17 years.

Dr. Theresa Pietsch

Pietsch came to Neumann in 2008 as an assistant professor of nursing and has risen through the ranks, serving as the associate dean of nursing since 2016. In her new role, which began on January 10, Pietsch also supervises Neumann’s physical therapy and athletic training programs.

At Neumann, she has taught mental health nursing and research courses in undergraduate and graduate programs. She is also certified in rehabilitation nursing.

“Dr. Pietsch has served the School of Nursing and Health Sciences in multiple roles and brings a wealth of knowledge both inside and outside of the classroom, as well as in the clinical setting,” says Dr. Lawrence DiPaolo, vice president for academic affairs,

Nursing has long been Neumann’s most popular major. In the fall of 2021, nursing and health sciences majors accounted for 34 percent of the university’s traditional undergraduate population.

Pietsch attributes the school’s success to its expert faculty, support staff, and relationships that the university has forged with the region’s excellent healthcare systems.

She received her BS in nursing from the University of Delaware and her master’s degree in nursing administration and doctorate from Widener University.
