New Sportsbook in Malvern, Casino in Morgantown to Help Parlay Industry’s Success in the New Year
A new sportsbook in Malvern and the opening of Hollywood Casino Morgantown are among the expansions that are expected to drive growth for Pennsylvania’s gaming industry in 2022. Gary Rotstein dealt with the particulars for PennBets.com.
The industry recorded its most successful year by far in 2021, and its leaders plan to build on this foundation in the current year.
The Dec. 22 opening of Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino Morgantown brought the state up to 16 gaming sites in total. Two more mini-casinos are also expected to open this year.
Hollywood Casino Morgantown also contains a retail sportsbook, bringing the total number of outlets for that type of gambling to 17 across the state.
Another sportsbook will soon be joining them in Malvern.
Parx is expected to open it this month, in partnership with the Chickie’s & Pete’s restaurant chain. This will be the fifth such operation in the state.
