Progressive Insurance, Malvern, Recognizes Military Service with New Car to U.S. Army Member

Progressive Insurance, Malvern, recognized the military service U.S. Army Private First Class Howard Lindy in a big and tangible way. It gave him a new car in an emotional Veterans Day honorific, writes Ashley Johnson for 6abc.

Lindy broke down in tears when he was presented with his new, apple-red Hyundai as part of Progressive Insurance’s Keys to Progress program.

The Overbrook resident feared he would never walk again after sustaining a critical injury at Fort Leonard Wood more than a decade ago.

“They had to get scissors to get off the boots,” he recalled. “And I crushed all the bones in my shins all the way to my feet.”

Now, he said, the new car represents a new beginning.

“I can actually get around and help my veterans and my daughter, and my mother,” Lindy said.

It also means he no longer has to rely on friends for rides to run simple errands.

“I had to pick up medicine at CVS,” he said. “I had to find a ride for that. It’s stressful when you’re taking care of somebody, and you have a child.”
