The list of brews at Artillery Brewing Company, which recently opened its doors in West Chester, salutes both local and national Revolutionary War history. Bill Rettew inspects the roster for the Daily Local News.

This latest addition to the borough’s growing brewing scene has given some of its beers Revolutionary War-themed names: The Patriot, The Cannon Ball, The Musket, and The Battle of Brandywine.

Meanwhile, the brewhouse hosts a 13-star flag and a mess tent. The pub uses blue wood and a brick interior to evoke the Continental Army’s encampment huts at Valley Forge National Historical Park.

The brewery got a start in the kitchen of Mike Loveless, co-founder and chief brand officer. In 2013, he and his close friend and co-founder Paul Zippel began to brew beer together. The pair then started to grow their business until they were comfortable with opening a permanent location in West Chester.

The establishment features 56 seats inside, in The Barracks, and 35 more seats outside, in The Retreat.

In addition to beers crafted by head brewer and co-owner Sean Naughton, the brewery offers food, including rustic artisan pizzas, dry-rubbed pulled pork sandwiches, and hot dogs.
