Phoenixville native Jonathan Hanna, a computer science major who graduated from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. as the salutatorian of its Class of 2020, enjoyed his in-person commencement. It was delayed a year, but just as meaningful, reports Union College.
Like most colleges and universities last year, Union College held only a virtual event for its graduating class due to the pandemic.
During his time at Union, Hanna kept busy as a tutor, help desk data analyst, and researcher.
Back on campus once again, he left a few words of advice for incoming students, advising them to take advantage of the school’s academic and social opportunities.
“This is the best time to discover, explore, and ultimately, learn,” he said. “Your time at Union will go by very quickly, so make the most of it while you are here.”
Hanna plans to spend his post-college years as a software engineer. He plans to return to school in pursuit of a master’s in computer science, with a focus on artificial intelligence.
