Centric Bank has announced the winners of its third “Lights, Camera, Save!” video contest. Fourteen students – representing high schools from Cumberland, Dauphin, and Montgomery counties – submitted videos about the importance of smart money management.

“Lights, Camera, Save!” is a nationally sponsored contest offered by the ABA (American Bankers Association) Foundation and was locally launched by Centric Bank, one of nine Pennsylvania banks to offer the contest. The 2021 contest was sponsored by VantageScore Solutions, LLC.

“We realize that to reach teens with the message of the importance of smart money management, we need to engage them on the channels they use, which is video,” said Patricia (Patti) A. Husic, President and CEO of Centric Bank. “It’s critically important for young people to understand financial literacy and financial health, and we were thrilled to be able to offer this contest again this year that delivers a financial learning opportunity for students.”

The top three received a cash prize of $500, $250, and $100, respectively:

  1. Hanna Mater, “The Chick’s Temptation,” Central Dauphin High School
  2. William Cavallo, “Saving Money Made Simple,” Methacton High School
  3. Marissa Garon, “Save Money for Your Retirement,” Central Dauphin High School

The first-place winner’s video was submitted to the ABA Foundation to compete on the national level for several cash prizes, including $5,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place, and $1,000 for third and fourth places.

“I really cannot thank you enough for providing this spectacular opportunity for our students.” said Eli Nilsen, Business Education Department Chair at Central Dauphin High School. “This has been a tremendous bright spot in a challenging year, and I am so grateful to Centric Bank and the ABA for dedicating the time and funds to make sure this competition continues this year. The work that all of you put in does not go unnoticed.”
