Aqua Pennsylvania has announced that $4 million in infrastructure improvement projects are underway in Middletown, Nether Providence, and Marple townships to improve service reliability for customers throughout Delaware County.

In Middletown Township, crews are at work on a $1.8 million project replacing 5,288 feet of aging six-inch water mains with new four-, six- and eight-inch ductile iron water mains on the following streets:

  • Chew Road between Bortondale Road and the unit block of Garfield Road
  • Woodcrest Lane and Howarth Avenue between Bortondale Road and the end of the cul-de-sac
  • Apple Avenue between Beechwood Avenue and Bortondale Road
  • Beechwood Avenue from Apple Avenue to the unit block of Beechwood Avenue
  • Levis Avenue Private Drive between unit blocks of Levis Avenue
  • South New Middletown Road between Wyncroft and Private drives and the Middletown Fire Company

Aqua’s work is expected to be completed by July, weather permitting.

In Nether Providence Township, crews are working on a $1.2 million project to replace 6,347 feet of aging six-inch water mains with new eight-inch ductile iron water mains on the following streets:

  • Parkridge Drive between Beatty Road and Woodridge Lane
  • Woodridge Lane between Beatty Road and Parkridge Drive
  • Ridge Lane between both ends of Parkridge

This project is expected to be completed by July, weather permitting.

Crews are also working on a $1 million project in Marple Township to replace 5,491 feet of aging six- and eight-inch water mains with new six- and eight-inch ductile iron water mains on the following streets:

  • Deerfield Road between both ends of Foxcroft Road
  • Foxcroft Road between Marple Avenue and Deerfield Road
  • Cove Road from Foxcroft Road to the end of the cul-de-sac

Aqua expects this project to be completed by July, weather permitting.

These projects are part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program that replaced more than 45 miles of aging main in Delaware County in 2020 to improve service reliability for customers. This year, Aqua expects to replace approximately 45 miles of main in Delaware County by year-end. The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area.

The capital spend for these projects is included in Aqua’s nearly $53 million infrastructure program planned for Delaware County in 2021. Aqua Pennsylvania has more than $200 million planned for investments across Pennsylvania this year.

Aqua Pennsylvania serves approximately 1.4 million people in 32 counties throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Visit AquaAmerica.com for more information, or follow Aqua on Facebook at facebook.com/MyAquaAmerica and on Twitter at @MyAquaAmerica.
