Pandemic Prompts Singer-Songwriter from Honey Brook to Live Simpler Lifestyle
Honey Brook native Nicole Zell, a singer-songwriter and member of the alternative rock band American Wolves, decided to shift gears and give jewelry-making a try when the pandemic hit, writes Richard Gaw for the Chester County Press.
Prior to COVID-19, Zell’s days had been filled with a seemingly-never-ending tour of venues, like clubs and coffeehouses. But when the pandemic hit, her gigs suddenly stopped.
“Last year changed so much for so many people, and for me that meant no live shows,” she said.
Quarantined inside her apartment, she realized that being stuck in nature would be more preferable. So, she decided to return to the area where she grew up and was homeschooled and soon moved to a farm on the outskirts of Coatesville.
The changes brought on by the pandemic also prompted her to make some changes at a more personal level. Thus, in an effort to live a simpler lifestyle, she went “minimal” and “sustainable.”
She also began her sustainable and ethical jewelry line, Conjure Jewelry. She is hoping to continue that after the pandemic and improve her reach with appearances at artisan festivals and in shops throughout the area.
