It’s National Soup Month and the polar vortex, or snow, or a wintry mix is coming, just in time to chill down the end of January. But never fear! Here are just a few of the many wonderful Chester County restaurants that offer delicious, warm, and comforting homemade soups for you to pick up and warm up with at home. Plus, you’ll be supporting your community restaurants just when they need it the most.

Uncle B’s Bar B Q (located at 425 Bridge St, Phoenixville, 610-935-1363) makes a couple soups a week from scratch, like Tomato Bisque, Smoked Turkey Chowder, Smoked Clam Chowder (are you sensing the smoked theme? It’s what they do best!).
Plus, try their Smoked Chicken Corn & Poblano Chowder, Creole Style Gumbo, Brisket Chili, Smoked Turkey Pot Pie, or House Ham and Split Pea soups. They have also made a Pork Belly Ramen Bowl, so keep your eyes open for that speciality soup. And while you’re in there, grab some brisket, wings, BBQ fries, or their fried pickles.
PureBread Deli (825 East Baltimore Pike Kennett Square, 610-600-9866). This super-fun deli loves doggies and has named all their sandwiches after our lovable mates like the French Poodle‑turkey, brie, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and champagne mustard on a baguette.
Some of their sandwiches are and soup are gluten-free or vegetarian, just look for the icons on the menu. They offer Tomato Bisque, Mushroom Bisque, Lobster Bisque, and Broccoli Cheddar and Chicken Noodle.

Dixie Picnic (located at 215 Lancaster Avenue in Malvern, 484-320-8024) is home of the ‘upcake,’ as well as fun boxed lunches made from locally sourced ingredients, like their breakfast sandwiches or their chicken salad sandwiches, and their made-from scratch soups.
My personal favorite is their Peanut Soup, along with Cheddar Broccoli or their Savory Mushroom soup with Kennett Square mushrooms. You also can get cold take home pints of soup in their refrigerated case.

Gadaleto’s Seafood Market (located at Village Shopping Center, 1193 Wilmington Pike in West Chester, 610-430-7777). In addition to having excellent seafood takeout like battered Grouper bites, fried crab balls, Fried Calamari with Thai Chili Sauce, lobster pasta, fish & chips, and Maine Lobster Roll, Gadaleto’s has Lobster Bisque and Maryland Crab Soup. All your seafood dreams will come true here!
Station Taproom (207 W. Lancaster Avenue in Downingtown, 484-593-0560) offers daily soups with their Classic American menu of sandwiches, salads, burgers, and their delicious truffle fries. Don’t miss the Thai Shrimp Burger or the Smash Burger, and get it with a side of the soup of the day, like, Curry Lentil.
