From the beginning of the pandemic, Malvern-based IMC Construction put the safety of its employees first, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

As a result, it’s one of the rare companies that can say not one of its employees has tested positive for the coronavirus.

However, not everything went so smoothly. One of the low points for the company was during the initial wave of the virus when some employees had to be furloughed with no indication of what would come next for the business.

At the time, IMC made overhead adjustments and applied for a PPP loan. Luckily, things were soon moving again, and the company was able to break ground on 2222 Market in Center City, making it one of the highlights of the year.

As the future remains uncertain, IMC plans to focus on industries that have been less affected by COVID-19, such as life sciences, industrial, and healthcare.

“We’re fortunate we are strong in all of those industries and will build on that track record,” said Rob Cottone, IMC Construction CEO. “We’re a solid company and will get through this.”
