Delco Author’s New Book Helps Kids Deal with 2020 Worries

It’s a worrisome year, and kids aren’t immune, which is why a Haverford Township teacher and author has a new book, Way Past Worried, to help kids cope, reports Alicia Vitarelli for 6ABC.

With 2020 looking and feeling different, kids worry about their isolation, as they miss friends and school.

Hallee Adelman’s new book is part of her Great Big Feelings collection and helps children work though their emotions.

“Kids are feeling these big emotions right now, too, (but) they might just be expressing them differently than adults are,” Adelman said. “We’re encouraging kids to get out their feelings by doing an activity, like making some Worry Whip.”

That’s a whipped cream recipe that helps children keep their feelings from spilling everywhere.

The book and its activities work well for parents, too.

“It’s funny because a lot of parents are like, ‘Oh my gosh, I needed this book today! I’m happy to have read it to my kid, but I also really needed it,'” said Adelman.
