The season of corn mazes is upon us, and some of the best and most impressive ones in the region are just a short drive away, write Caroline Cunningham and Matt Phillips for Philadelphia magazine.

Merrymead Farm in Lansdale has prepared an exciting corn maze design for this year, with a huge rooster at its center and the words “Rise & Shine” underneath it.

The five-acre maze is open throughout October for daytime adventures, while its moonlight maze can be visited during the added hours on Thursdays and Fridays. Additionally, there is the “Cornstalk Tunnel” that offers 900 feet of twists and turns for the whole family to enjoy throughout the week.

The farm also offers pumpkins, squash, and gourds, homemade ice-cream, apple cider donuts, and evening hayrides, among other things.

And for this year, instead of its maze, Hurricane Hill Farm in West Brandywine Township offers a trail walk around the maze.

There are also plenty of other fun fall activities available, including hayrides to the pumpkin patch, Saturday BBQ, and the Saloon 151 food truck.
