New Ale from Local Brewer Honors Philadelphia Union, Fans Who Support Them

By

2SP Brewing in Aston has partnered with the Philadelphia Union’s fan club to create a new beer in celebration of the team’s 13th anniversary, writes Pat Ralph for Philly Voice.

The brewer has joined the Sons of Ben to present “Here beFORe The Beer,” a pale ale with a touch of caramel malt.

The beer name honors the Sons of Ben slogan, “Here Before the Team,” showing their support even before a Major League Soccer club existed in Philadelphia.

“Beyond their rabid support of the Union, the Sons of Ben aims to support and develop soccer in the Delaware Valley and give back to the community, specifically in the city of Chester, where the Philadelphia Union play,” reads a statement from 2SP Brewing.

Sons of Ben member A.J. Serio came up with the name.

The limited-edition beer is available next week in the Philadelphia region.

The fan club was also honored with a seasonal beer in 2014 when Yards Brewing presented “Sons of Ben,” a “rowdy pale ale.”
