While members of the Class of 2020 may not get to enjoy their graduation ceremonies in June, many school districts in Chester County are busy trying to find ways to keep the end of high school memorable for students, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Local News.

Kristen Bishop, Avon Grove Charter’s Head of School, sent a letter to parents, students, and the community discussing how best to “celebrate this monumental occasion.”

“We all understand that the traditional events and graduations to celebrate high school seniors look very different this year,” wrote Bishop. “Setting new traditions around social distancing will be the priority in honoring the Class of 2020.”

One of the options is to hold an outdoor graduation ceremony in July, with permission from the state. A mini graduation or car ceremony are also being considered.

Three options Conestoga High School has come up with include holding graduation at the school stadium in July with a limited number of guests, holding the ceremony just with students, or providing each student with a time for an individual ceremony with a limited number of guests.

One of Coatesville High School’s time-honored traditions, the prom and its accompanying parade, is scheduled for July 10, while a live commencement ceremony is slated for July 16.
