Immaculata University has hired Sean Dwyer as the head coach of its Esports program, which will kick off its inaugural season this fall.

Dwyer, a graduate of Drexel University, brings a wealth of Esports experience to Immaculata. He most recently served as a manager with Iconic Esports, a tenure that followed a successful stint as the Founder and General Manager of Team Exile.

“I am excited and humbled to be joining the talented team at Immaculata as the first Esports coach in Immaculata University’s history,” said Dwyer. “This is a great opportunity to show Esports’s potential for competition, inclusion, and personal growth. I look forward to developing a program that current students and alumni can be proud of.”

Prior to his time with Team Exile, Dwyer served as a Broadcast Day Production Manager with Dallas-based Warrior Esports, where he helped to facilitate the broadcasting efforts and served as the primary observer and broadcaster on weekly League of Legends Tournaments. Dwyer also boasts an additional 10 years of experience as co-leader within a 30-plus-member gaming community.

“Sean brings great experience, knowledge, and energy to this position,” said Amy Badorf, Immaculata’s Director of Athletics and Recreation. “With his background in helping to lead and grow Esports programs, I am excited to see what our new program can accomplish under his leadership.”

ESports was formally announced as Immaculata’s 24th varsity sport on Jan. 16, 2020.
