Two Chester County natives are preparing to seize their opportunity to make an NFL roster when training camps eventually open, writes Pete DiGiovanni for PA Prep Live.

Bishop Shanahan grad Doug Costin recently signed a free-agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars after a stellar career as a defensive tackle at Miami University of Ohio. Meanwhile, Downingtown East product Dan Chisena, a wide receiver and special teams star at Penn State, will attempt to make the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent.

Costin was named first-team All-Mid-American Conference last season, when he registered 58 tackles and four sacks. In his four years with the RedHawks, he played 50 games and tallied 178 tackles and 17 sacks.

“This is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream,” said Costin. “I have been working toward this for a real long time, and I am really excited to be going to Jacksonville.”

Chisena will head to training camp armed with speed and an unwavering determination to make the roster.

“He has elite speed, and his senior year in high school, he won three gold medals in state track,” said Downingtown East coach Mike Matta.
