West Chester native and Rustin High School graduate Chris McMahon, a right-handed pitcher at the University of Miami, is projected to be a first-round pick in the upcoming Major League Baseball Draft, according to the latest intel from Baseball America, writes Christopher Stock for 247Sports.com.

McMahon is the 30th-best prospect and a recent mock draft had the Tampa Bay Rays selecting him with the 24th pick.

There is significant uncertainty surrounding the draft. It was already moved once to July, and there is the possibility that it will be moved again.

The 6-foot-2 McMahon had a strong start to his 2020 campaign before it was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. He was 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA in four starts and struck out 38 batters, while walking just five, in almost 26 innings.

During his three years with the Hurricanes, McMahon compiled a 7-3 record with a 3.28 ERA in 22 games, with 20 starts. He has also struck out 123 and walked 37 in 112 innings.
