As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to grow, the head of the Chester County Health Department warns that the county has not seen the peak yet, writes Michael Rellahan for the Daily Local News.

According to Director Jeanna Casner, who heads the multidisciplinary task force combatting the spread of coronavirus in the county, the restrictions on human, business, and school activity will continue to be the best form of defense against COVID-19.

However, she could not say when the restrictions that include staying at home, closing non-essential businesses, wearing masks, and keeping a safe distance apart would come to an end.

“I would be able to retire if I had that answer,” said Casner. “We are not at the peak yet.”

Casner said that previous viral outbreaks showed that the infection can often return even stronger if the limitations on people’s daily activities are lifted too soon.

“My gut says we will have to go well into May,” she said.
