Pair of Wayne-Based Companies Busier Than Ever as More People Choose to Work from Home
Sungard Availability Services and Evolve IP, a pair of Wayne-based companies, have been busier than ever as many people are choosing to work from home to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, writes Joseph DiStefano for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“I’m just plain crazed with opportunity,” said John Beattie, a principal at Sungard Availability Services.
The company has been helping media, telecom, and financial companies prepare for outbreaks of infectious diseases, as well as for hackers, storms, and other data disasters.
Beattie said that, right now, businesses have three goals: to provide people with a safe workplace, including those who cannot work from home; to deal with the unavailability of personnel; and to handle the changes in business dynamics, some of which could last long after the current crisis.
For instance, some businesses are realizing they might not need as much office space as they are currently occupying in the future, as they are not losing productivity despite people working from home.
Another local company that has seen an increase in business during the crisis is Evolve IP, which builds mobile and dispersed communications and data systems for other businesses.
