The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce has created a Virtual Tip Jar that allows the public to donate directly to local workers in the service industry during the coronavirus pandemic.

Virtual tip jars are an online resource designed to help workers belonging to the service industry – servers, bartenders, aestheticians, retailers, etc. – maintain their income during the current coronavirus outbreak.

Through a form hosted on the chamber’s website, workers submit their names and Venmo or PayPal information, which then populates in a spreadsheet and is shared with the public so they can donate directly to the workers they would typically patronize.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, virtual tip jars are growing in popularity, popping up in towns and cities across the country, from Philadelphia to San Francisco.

“We are excited to share this opportunity with not only our chamber members but our community members,” said Mark Yoder, president and CEO of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce.

“Normally, at this time, many of us would be patronizing shops, restaurants, salons, and other businesses regularly, and those that live off tips are really feeling the impact of the coronavirus. The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is happy to help support our local community and local economy with this Virtual Tip Jar.”
