Chester County Commissioner Marian Moskowitz is calling for a postponement of the April 28 primary election in Pennsylvania until the COVID-19 public health threat has subsided, writes Michael Rellahan for the Daily Local News.

Moskowitz said this would provide the county with more time to adjust to the logistics of the primary. As it stands now, buildings and organizations that usually provide polling for the county could still be grappling with their status when the primary arrives in 42 days.

“I would like to see two things,” said Moskowitz. “The first is to move the primary date back as far as possible.”

“Secondly,” she said, “I believe it is time for us to move in a direction of voting online and or (by) mail as other states have successfully done.”

She said the crisis currently unfolding shows that the voting process is being jeopardized by something that cannot be controlled.

Gov. Tom Wolf also touched on the subject over the weekend, saying that while it is something that is being talked about, “April 28 is too far away to make a decision.”
