Committed to Clemson for Baseball, Three-Sport Star at Malvern Prep May Be Having Change of Heart
Lonnie White Jr., a junior at Malvern Prep and three-sport star, continues to receive scholarship offers to play football in college despite having already verbally committed to Clemson for baseball, writes Corey Sharp for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
During his sophomore year, the Coatesville native played 33 games and hit .283 with six doubles, four home runs, and 25 RBI.
However, over the last several months, the 6-foot-2, dual-threat quarterback and wide receiver has drawn significant attention from football coaches nationwide. This has now caused the promising athlete to start reconsidering his decision to go to Clemson.
White said that, over the last two weeks, he has received football offers from Bowling Green, Boston College, Central Michigan, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Toledo, and Old Dominion. Those are in addition to the ones he received from Virginia Tech, Buffalo, and Kent State late last year.
The offers started pouring in after White, who also plays basketball, caught 10 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown in a September game against Imhotep Charter.
