The West Chester Area School District has started a new cyber program with the goal of bringing back students who have recently flocked to online charter schools, writes Maddie Hanna for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The selling point of the program is a diploma from one of the well-rated high schools in the district and access to all it has to offer. All of this comes with the flexibility of go-at-your-own-pace schooling. The program is scheduled to launch this fall, starting with sixth and ninth grades.

“You’re getting everything we have to offer here in West Chester,” Kristen Barnello, the district’s supervisor of fine arts and social studies, said at an open house last week.

The response from parents seemed favorable.

The mother of a student – who currently attends a cyber charter so she can fit schoolwork around her busy figure skating schedule – said the program seemed intriguing, especially since her daughter “wants to experience high school.”

“This is such a great school district,” she said.
