Jake Segal, who grew up in East Pikeland Township, is the Director of Camping Services and Properties with the Chester County Council, Scouts BSA.

Segal earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University. He credits Ray Hayden, his first supervisor, as having the biggest impact on his career.

“Ray trusted me and allowed me to quickly expand my knowledge in many areas of facility management,” said Segal, who began working when he was 15 as a seasonal employee at Camp Horseshoe, an overnight camp for Boy Scouts in Rising Sun, Md. “He would always support me and my decisions, even when I failed.”

Segal’s proudest professional achievement was being promoted to Camping Director in 2016.

“In this role, I would oversee and direct all operations at Horseshoe,” he said. “What made this so exciting was that it was the place I had worked since I was 14, and I was following in the footsteps of Ray, my mentor, who just left to take a new role in New Mexico.

“I was able to have an immediate impact on the place I had called home for the previous 10 years.”

Segal’s favorite Chester County restaurant is the Nottingham Inn Kitchen & Creamery.
