Matt and Ricky Ortega are making the most of their final football games together as the coach and quarterback at Coatesville High School, writes Phil Anastasia for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

For the father and son, it’s all about the next game, despite the inevitable end to their on-the-field collaboration approaching fast.

“We don’t want it to end,” said Ricky Ortega. “It’s probably going to shock us. We’re trying to keep going, keep trying to win the next game.”

Over the last four seasons, Coatesville has been among the best programs in Pennsylvania. The Red Raiders have a 48-7 record, with four Ches-Mont League National Division titles. A victory over rival Downingtown West on Friday night would give them their third consecutive District One crown.

Ricky will continue his playing career at Villanova next year.

“It’s going to be really tough and sad when it ends,” he said. “But at same time, we had a great career together. As a team, too, our whole senior group might have the most wins in Coatesville history.”
