Chester County Home to Several of the Top Teachers Around the Main Line, Western Suburbs

Almost half of the 15 teachers recognized by Main Line Today as the magazine’s 2019 Top Teachers Around the Main Line and Western Suburbs work here in Chester County, writes Lisa Dukart for Main Line Today.

Jessica Brilla, a mathematics teacher at Owen J. Roberts High School, strives to make her classes fun by telling math puns and posting funny memes.

Brian Fetterman, an English teacher at Valley Forge Military Academy, incorporates music into his classes.

Jim Fusco, who teaches marketing and finance at TCHS Brandywine, has students participate in online simulations and work in the on-campus retail store.

Lindsay Mangold, who teaches third- and fourth-graders at Barkley Elementary School in the Phoenixville School District, focuses on culturally responsive teaching and social and emotional education.

Joe Michener, who teaches social studies and business at 21st Century Cyber Charter School in Downingtown, uses Nearpod to better connect with his online students.

Andy Mullen, a guidance counselor at Valley Forge Middle School in the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District, uses humor to make children feel at ease with confusing issues.

Tim Simmons, who teaches music at Delaware Valley Friends School in Paoli, combines language and music to make his class thrive.
