Rich neighborhoods throughout the country have some of the best and most well-funded public schools, and the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District is at the top of the list in Pennsylvania, writes Joel Anderson for Yahoo! Finance.

School districts located in areas that have a higher average income usually have a larger tax base to draw on and hence provide services some poorer school districts are not able to.

The school district located in southeastern Chester County and western Delaware County benefits from being situated among the suburbs of both Philadelphia and Wilmington. It encompasses seven townships and serves around 4,000 students.

The median household income in the region is more than $125,000 per year. With such a rich tax base, the district’s budget is close to three times larger than the state average.

There’s also a high discrepancy among the richest school districts in each state. For example, the richest school district in New York, the Scarsdale Union Free School District, has the median household income of $250,000. Meanwhile, the richest school district in Idaho, the Kuna Joint School District 3, has a median household income of less than $70,000.
