West Chester Agway will move from its current location on Sept. 30 to a new space to make way for luxury apartments, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

Starting Oct. 1, the store will be located in the Commons of Thornbury, at the intersection of routes 926 and 202.

Everything that West Chester Agway plans to sell at its new site is already offered at its current Matlack Street location. However, some items will be discontinued.

“It gives me the opportunity to do something smaller and a little specialized,” said owner Cory Mattia. “It’s exciting to focus on some key categories instead of a lot of areas.”

Mattia expects that the majority of future business will cater to buyers of wild birdfeed. The store will also sell poultry supplies, pond supplies, and wildlife food.

The store’s previous location will soon be the site of a $30 million project from Westrum Development. The 189-unit Luxor Lifestyle Apartments will cater to high-end millennial rentals, with rents ranging from $1,300 to $2,000 per month.
