The inaugural Chesco Teen Filmmakers Showcase, hosted by East Goshen Township and the Movie Tavern in Exton, debuted last week to rave reviews, according to a report from the Daily Local News.

Eleven films were chosen to be presented as the official selection from submissions collected across southeastern Pennsylvania. The showcase included a red-carpet experience for the young filmmakers, with their names displayed on the digital marquee and an after-party for each movie.

State Rep. Carolyn Comitta opened the event. The highlight was an Expert Panel made up of Film School Professors from the University of the Arts and Kutztown University, along with the president of Exton-based Springhouse Films.

The showcase presented two major awards. Adam McAlonie won the Critic’s Choice Award for his film, Dropped. Meanwhile, the Fan Favorite Award was chosen by the packed audience in real time via an app. The winner was 5 Star Getaway, a film directed by a group of Bryn Mawr Film Institute teen directors.

Now, plans are already underway for the second Teen Filmmakers Showcase, slated for August 2020 at the Movie Tavern in Exton.
