Anuva Health, Cerner’s Latest Concept in Workforce Health, Provides Unique Benefits and Reduces Health Care Costs for Employers
There are two costs never far from the minds of employers: salaries and health care.
And the latter only seems to be rising like the temperature in August.
Cerner, which has excelled for 40 years at the intersection of health care and information technology, showcased its new near-site health network, Anuva Health, to a number of interested parties Thursday afternoon at its campus in Malvern. Anuva Health is designed to help control costs and save employers a whole lot of money.
“We have a motto here at Cerner: Health care is too important to stay the same,” said David Ricci, Senior Business Developer at Cerner.
And it’s oftentimes too costly. That’s what Anuva Health aims to change.
Cerner already operates dozens of employer health centers around the country, but Anuva Health is the company’s first in a new network of near-site employer health clinics. The near-site model is an alternative for employers with fewer employees that want to offer the same benefits with less investment. Anuva Health combines in-person services at facilities near your worksite and virtual health services to offer employees a convenient, connected health care experience.
Representatives from area colleges, school districts, townships, and businesses of all types were on hand to tour the Anuva Health clinic and pharmacy.
“Health care costs are truly problematic, and they’re increasing exponentially,” said one guest who works in human resources for a local bank. “I can only imagine that some of these increases are putting some companies out of business.”
Anuva Health creates a personalized experience for patients that includes:
- Advanced Prescribing: Improves the experience by focusing on safety and making it more convenient to fill prescriptions.
- No-Wait Model: Simply check in at your scheduled appointment time and go to a care suite to see a provider minutes after arrival.
- On-Site Pharmacy: Pick up your prescriptions after visits, transfer prescriptions, and obtain medication for covered dependents.
- Patient Portal: Access health information from anywhere, schedule appointments, and interact with providers in a secure, online patient portal.
- Technology That Improves Care: Cerner developed technology, used at health care organizations across the globe, designed to facilitate health and care on a personal level.
- Virtual Services: Choose from a comprehensive list of services to help manage your health care.
“In 2005, Cerner had a wake-up moment,” said James Kanary, Cerner’s Senior Director of Population Health, about the genesis of the on-site and now near-site model. “We were a growing company. We had a relatively agile work population, and yet, every year, we were having meetings with our health plan where they were increasing our health insurance premiums.
“For us, it was a frustrating feeling to have to go through that year after year. That’s when we began to think about how we could change the trajectory of the experience and cost of health care. That began the journey that led to the creation of our first on-site health center for our associates and their dependents. And in just the first year, we had measurable savings and improved health outcomes.”
Cerner plans to open a second Anuva Health location, this one in West Chester on West Chester Pike, this year.
