DNB First Employees Build on Their Legacy of Giving Back by Raising Funds for Community Center

Employees of DNB First, one of the first nationally-chartered community banks to serve the Greater Philadelphia region, used the occasion of their annual celebration dinner as an opportunity to build on their legacy of giving back.

Every year, the bank hosts employees at a dinner to recognize and celebrate their success in serving customers, shareholders, and the community in Chester, Delaware, and Philadelphia counties. This year, a group of employees looking to share their blessings with others, organized a gift basket raffle at the dinner and asked colleagues to help select a deserving nonprofit to receive the proceeds.

Gift baskets included a range of items donated by employees – from gourmet food and wine to luxury spa packages and award-winning movie collections to gifts cards to local stores and restaurants – and ticket sales raised more than $1,500.

Employees were also asked to nominate deserving nonprofits in the area to receive the proceeds. North Light Community Center of Philadelphia was selected at random from more than 30 entries. DNB First then matched the amount raised through ticket sales for a total contribution of more than $3,000 to North Light.

“Fundraising for the community at our annual dinner typifies the civic and charitable spirit of DNB First employees,” said William J. Hieb, President and CEO of DNB First.  “I’m tremendously proud of our people.”

North Light Community Center strives to empower people of all ages and abilities, especially those most in need, to reach their fullest potential as productive and responsible citizens. The funding provided by DNB First will help support the center’s community food cupboard, which provides both fresh and nonperishable groceries to constituents who depend on the program to sustain their households.

“The food cupboard is one of our programs that individuals and families rely on most,” said Karen Smith, Director of Marketing and Communications at North Light Community Center. “We’re very thankful for this generous donation from everyone at DNB First.”
