Officially launched three years ago, the Road Rancher food truck is a familiar and welcome sight at various events in Chester County from March through November, writes Richard Gaw for the Chester County Press.

Matt and Kathy Goin started the business when their accountant mentioned a food truck as a way they could turn a profit using the ground beef from their Katt and Mathy Farms, which was not selling.

Once the pair purchased the vehicle for their new business venture, they quickly hired head cook Tyrone Heyward and his daughters, Julia and Olivia Heyward.

“The only experience we had was that we all enjoy cooking, so we were confident that we knew what we were doing,” said Matt.

The food truck was an instant hit and attended 40 events in the first year. Now, it attends 140.

The Road Rancher is known for its eclectic menu and meal names, which include the Big Wolfie burger, the Calypso Cowboy burger, and the Pig Pickin’ Plate.

As a bonus, the Road Rancher uses ingredients grown on farms in southern Chester County.
