Ohio State-Bound Swimmer from Chadds Ford Leads Malvern Prep to Feat 47 Years in the Making

Chadds Ford resident Matt Magness, a highly decorated swimmer at Malvern Prep, plans to continue his domination in the pool once he lands at Ohio State, writes Tom Ignudo for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
In January, Magness helped the Friars repeat as National Catholic Swimming and Diving champions for the first time in 47 years.
“That was huge,” said Magness. “That was definitely something that we knew was a possibility at the beginning of the year. And then to finally achieve that was a great feeling.”
The young athlete was nicknamed “The Beast” during his early years for his ability to stand out in the water.
“He attacked races as a kid,” said Malvern Prep swimming coach Jay Schiller. “You can see he was trained right.”
He now hopes to continue his success next season with the Buckeyes.
