Advanced manufacturing is one of the top STEM fields for career opportunity. Manufacturers in the U.S. perform more than three-quarters of all private-sector research and development in the nation, driving more innovation than any other sector.

Our nation’s supply of skilled workers in this field, however, is not meeting the demand. Over the next decade, nearly 3.5 million jobs will be needed, yet two million are expected to go unfilled due to a skills gap.

Every day, the Chester County Intermediate Unit’s Technical College High School is equipping students who are interested in advanced manufacturing with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to seize future opportunities.

And on Tuesday, Nov. 13, TCHS Pickering will host AMP (Advanced Manufacturing Premier) from 8:30 AM-1 PM at its campus on Charlestown Road in Phoenixville with an aim to provide students with a broad view of all opportunities touching advanced manufacturing.

More than 200 high school students from the Greater Philadelphia area attended last year’s event, which featured more than 20 manufacturing and collegiate participating partners.

These exhibitors play a very important role in AMP as they shape the minds and attitudes of the students who attend. Any company working within or supplying the manufacturing industry is strongly encouraged to consider exhibiting. It’s an opportunity to get high school students excited about careers in advanced manufacturing.
