West Chester Fire Department Launches New Recruitment Strategy with This Must-See Video

By

The West Chester Fire Department is making a new push to recruit volunteer firefighters.

There is a new website that allows visitors to view information about the fire department and has a page to express interest in joining one of the its three fire companies. The WCFD hopes that, by creating this easy-to-use website, more volunteers will step up and answer the call to help protect their community.

“Twenty to thirty years ago, recruitment wasn’t even something we were talking about,” said Chief Jon Stafford. “Throughout the United States, we have seen a startling decline in the number of volunteer firefighters. This decline, coupled with our increased call volume, has been really taxing on our current volunteers.

“We are hoping that this website will entice the people to take on new and interesting challenges by becoming a firefighter. We need as many volunteers as we can get to answer the call and join our department family.”

The WCFD also released a new recruitment video that highlights the exciting and rewarding job its members perform. The WCFD hopes that the video will encourage people to become volunteer firefighters by giving them a window into the world of firefighting.
