Best Public Schools

U.S. News placed West Chester University at No. 17 on its list of Top Public Regional Universities North and No. 68 among the Best Regional Universities North, a list that combines both public and private institutions. Also, WCU rated No. 38 in Best Schools for Veterans.

Confirming the value of a WCU education, U.S. News placed it at No. 69 (up 13 spots from last year) on its list of Best Value Schools/Regional Universities North.

U.S. News collected data on more than 1,800 schools and ranked just under 1,400 of them on 16 measures of academic quality.

Golden Rams Football

A.J. Long threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns while Rasheem James finished with seven catches for 121 yards and a score, as WCU cruised to a 31-7 victory over visiting Gannon on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (2-0) ran up 351 yards of total offense while limiting Gannon’s All-American running back, Marcus Jones, to just 62 yards on 20 carries.

Gannon didn’t gain more than seven yards on six of its first nine possessions due in large part to WCU’s stingy defense.

Andrew Snyder

The assistant professor of ceramics opened “Family Tree,” a time-based exhibit that will grow and change throughout the exhibit, which is on display in the E.O. Bull Center’s Baker Gallery through Oct. 12.

The event is free and open to the public during gallery hours: Monday-Friday from 9 AM-4 PM and Saturday from 12-4 PM. As part of the exhibit, Snyder will work alongside 12 other artists, whom he calls his ceramics “brothers and sisters.”

Department of Theatre and Dance

Students and faculty are taking Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill, A Musical Voyage to the Philadelphia Fringe Festival from Sept. 7-23.

The show was produced as part of West Chester’s 2017-18 Season last April. Two performances are scheduled for Sept. 16, at 1 and 7 PM at L’Etage, located at 624 South 6th Street in Philadelphia.
