The Electronics Lab in Penn State Great Valley’s Innovation Center has been named in honor of the $200,000 commitment made by advisory board member Chuck Thomas and his wife, Karen, writes Elizabeth Palmer for Penn State News.

The Chuck and Karen Thomas Electronics Lab gives classroom and laboratory space to undergraduate students enrolled in multidisciplinary engineering design. This helps Penn State Abington and Penn State Brandywine students complete two years of foundational engineering coursework using its state-of-the-art engineering facilities.

“This gift from Chuck and Karen Thomas will have a profound impact on the Great Valley campus, in particular on the students in the multidisciplinary engineering design program,” said James Nemes, chancellor and chief academic officer of Penn State Great Valley.

Along with serving as an advisory board member, Chuck Thomas was also a part-time faculty member at Great Valley for more than a decade. The former vice president at Comcast and QVC taught courses in entrepreneurship in the MBA program.

“Teaching at Penn State Great Valley was a wonderful experience for me,” he said.
