Daemion Counseling Center, a mental health counseling center that has continuously served clients in southeastern Pennsylvania since 1970, will host the sixth annual Taste of Berwyn, a community event that has something for everyone, on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 12-5 PM at the Hilltop House in Devon.

Children can enjoy face-painting, a photo booth, balloon creations, magic, dancers, and grassy lawns for play, while adults can enjoy local restaurants with delicious festival foods, cold beer, wine, plein air artists, and hand-made jewelry.

Phillip Krombolz – partner at Krombolz-Sheets, a family-owned commercial and personal lines insurance business based in West Chester – got involved with Daemion and the Taste of Berwyn in 2012.

“We were involved in the community; in fact, I had never been asked to be on a board,” said Krombolz. “Daemion was close to where I grew up and live. Plus, I knew a lot of people with mental health issues. Daemion was a natural fit for me and my company.”

Taste of Berwyn has evolved from an event in a parking lot to an annual community gala at the Hilltop House, an elegant, 200-year-old farmhouse in Devon.

After turnout exceeded expectations the first year, Krombolz remembered, “we knew we had something significant.”

While the event committee has become better organized in the last six years, said Krombolz, its focus is still on ensuring the restaurants, vendors, artists, and especially the guests all have a great day, all “while raising money to help Daemion Counseling Center.”

This year’s event will feature a raffle that pays out up to $10,000 in cash. Only 400 raffle tickets will be sold (thus ensuring you have good odds to win). There is also a second prize of a Tiffany & Co. sterling silver bracelet, as well as a third prize of four Phillies tickets for the 2018-2019 season.

Daemion Counseling Center is partnering with the Paoli-Malvern-Berwyn Rotary Club for this year’s Taste of Berwyn. Daemion Counseling Center’s mission is to offer professional counseling focused on helping community residents navigate life’s many transitions.

As a small and responsive organization, it is able to see clients within days of their call. It offers intimacy and proficiency of a private practice with the flexibility of a counseling center. Daemion’s services rely on the expertise of its licensed therapists, counselors, and Master-level interns, and their ability to help clients learn, change, and grow.
