Wawa opened its latest location in Chester County last week, in the Thorndale section of Caln Township, writes Ginger Dunbar for the Daily Local News.

The new store is at the corner of Route 340 and Business Route 30, on the former site of a car wash and Pizza Box. It was originally expected to open in the late spring, but the date was moved to summer.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony included a Goose Pride Parade to showcase the key lessons that guide Wawa’s culture.

The grand opening finished with a “Hoagies for Heroes” competition in which the Caln Township Police Department and Thorndale Fire Company faced off to see who could build the most traditional Wawa hoagie in three minutes. The Caln police won, but both teams received $1,000 checks from Wawa for their favorite charities.

“In general, we are continuing to expand and invest in Chester County,” said Wawa spokeswoman Lori Bruce. “We currently have 22 fuel stores and 7 non-fuel stores with five potential sites.”
