Tridiuum, a medical technology company based in Wayne and formerly known as Polaris Health Directions, adopted its new name last year, and shifted from a research-focused company supported by grants to a clinical product company backed by venture capital, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Its core platform, Tridiuum1, is a mental health assessment and outcomes tool that uses algorithms and a proprietary scoring system to help clinicians evaluate and monitor patients suffering from a variety of behavioral health conditions, ranging from depression to substance use.

The platform has been used in more than 1.2 million patient visits by about 4,200 health providers at more than 600 facilities nationwide.

Tridiuum CEO Mark Redlus explained how the company’s technology works.

“Our behavioral health status scores are based on patient responses to a set of questions in our assessment,” he said. “The assessment takes about three to five minutes. It is delivered on an iPad or tablet in a healthcare setting.

“The assessment is used to calibrate the clinical approach in the appointment minutes later. All the data we get in real time surfaces on a computer panel for the provider who is getting ready for the appointment. It helps the provider set priorities.”
