Chellie Cameron discusses her work as CEO of Philadelphia International Airport with members of the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry.

Chellie Cameron, CEO of the Philadelphia International Airport, recently visited the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry to give members a glimpse of the airport’s inner workings and share her vision of its future.

Cameron, who oversees 800 employees and serves more than 80,000 passengers every day, discussed airport logistics, current airport upgrades and renovations, and future projects during her presentation.

Prior to becoming CEO of the Philadelphia International Airport, Cameron boasted 20 years of aviation experience as an active-duty member of the U.S. Air Force. She also spent 13 years with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which was independently created with the consent of Congress to oversee management, operations, and capital development of the two major airports serving the capital: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport.

As renovations continue to make PHL one of the finest airports in the nation, Cameron is eyeing a more ambitious upgrade – an increase in international flights – that she hopes will draw more passengers.

“We are missing connectivity to Asia and South America,” she said, noting Tokyo, Delhi, and China as potential destinations.

Cameron also announced that non-stop service to Mexico City would begin in July.

“It’s fantastic for this region,” she said.

With the addition of a direct flight to Mexico City, Cameron is looking to add more flights to locations such as Colombia and Panama City.
