Sixth Annual Beat Beethoven 5K Run/1 Mile Walk
Take your classical music “in stride” and come out to Anson B. Nixon Park in Kennett Square on Sunday, June 10 at 9 AM to support the Kennett Symphony and see if you can Beat Beethoven!
Brandywine Valley Heating and Air Conditioning is the presenting sponsor for this race for serious runners, as well as beginners and families. The race will start with the downbeat of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. Your goal is to finish the 5K before the Symphony finishes playing. Beethoven himself runs the race every year and has always finished with time to spare.
Think you can beat him?
Water will be available on the course and following the race. There will be some snacks and refreshments provided by sponsors at the conclusion of the race.
Pre-registrants will receive a t-shirt while supplies last. Click here to register.
Kennett Area YMCA
Dendê Macêdo – a world-renowned singer, composer, teacher, and multi-instrumentalist who has been a professional musician since the age of 14 – will be at the Kennett Area YMCA on Friday, May 25 from 6-7 PM for Family Music Night.
Macêdo has traveled the world, bringing musical delight to performing arts centers and festivals, and his performance – “Recycled Sounds” – is a project that developed out of found materials. Over the years, he has created a trove of instruments, including a bucket shekere, a golf club berimbau, a tire drum, and a trashcan snare drum.
Macêdo conveys an important message about our environment. The conduit for that message is a one-of-a-kind performance on wild-looking instruments that make interesting and distinctive sounds.
Join the YMCA for a family evening of music, movement, and fun. There is no cost to attend.
