The Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville is being recognized by the Preservation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia for its expansion, writes Donna Rovins for the Daily Local News.

The historic theatre will receive the 2018 Preservation Achievement Grand Jury Award. This recognizes projects on historic buildings for their exemplary restoration or renovation.

The Preservation Alliance selected the Colonial’s renovation of the former Bank of Phoenixville building for the award.

“This year’s Grand Jury winners exhibit astonishing variety and demonstrate the breadth of preservation efforts in the city and throughout the region,” said Paul Steinke, Preservation Alliance executive director.

The Association for the Colonial Theatre, a nonprofit, is the owner and operator of the Colonial Theatre.

“It’s a wonderful way to commemorate our members and the community,” said Mary Foote, executive director of the Association for the Colonial Theatre.

The award will be presented at a ceremony on June 6.
